Top Notch School Initiative

We at Top Notch Catering are dedicated to doing our part to help reduce the rate of childhood obesity in our community. In the United States of America, we know that about 17% of children nationally (2-19 years old) are considered obese. This number is even increased when we look at our own community, 30% of children in the San Diego County are considered obese (grades 5-9). We also know that childhood obesity does not only effect their weight but can have lasting effects on their health down the road. Obese children are more likely to develop high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and increase their risk for cardiovascular disease.

Top Notch Catering works hard at creating menus that will not only help provide a nutritious lunch for children but will help familiarize them with what a healthy plate looks like. We use whole wheat grains, lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables to help introduce meal options to the children we serve. We make our meals fresh each morning and our food is never fried. It is very important to us to help make lasting impacts on our children that they will be able to take with them later in life. We hope to create a positive experience for children where they can both enjoy our meals and learn more about nutrition and health.
